Festival of Lights

The Festival of Lights will take place on Friday, November 27th (the day after Thanksgiving), from 5:00PM to 8PM on Historic Main Street in Placerville. The old-fashioned festivities will close Historic Main Street and begin around 5:00PM at various locations up and down Main Street with holiday singers, dancers, music, Santa, and the tree-lighting at 6PM at the Courthouse.

Visits with Santa during the Festival of Lights will be from 6:15PM – 7:30PM at River City Bank (348 Main Street). Photos will be available for purchase, but are not required to visit with Santa!

Merchant’s Open House

On Saturday, November 27th and Sunday, November 28th, Historic Main Street merchants welcome visitors and shoppers with coffee, cider and seasonal goodies. Enjoy holiday shopping and hospitality in one convenient setting. And look for the Merry Merchant Marketplace participating businesses (look for the Christmas Tree sign in the window) for special offers and discounts. Free 2 hour parking, entertainment, and more. 37th Annual Christmas Parade

The big Hangtown Christmas Parade begins around 1PM on Sunday, December 6th. This holiday parade takes place rain or shine and starts at the Broadway Plaza parking lot on upper Broadway in Placerville and continues down Main Street. theme for this year is “Cartoons & Christmas.” This event is sponsored by The Mountain Democrat. Placerville Holiday Season

Davy Doc Wiser and his crew, stagecoach rides will be available throughout the season on most weekends in Historic Downtown Placerville. If you have never experienced a ride on the Wiser Overland Express, or if it has been awhile, come down and ride with the crew for a really enchanting holiday treat. Don’t forget to bring your family and friends, too. This year, rides are available (in good weather) at the Bell Tower on November 27th starting at 4pm (for the first 100 riders only) and on the following dates from 12pm – 3pm: November 28th, December 5th, 12th, 13th, 19th, and 20th. Toys For Tots

This great charitable organization will be collecting toys and donations at the Bell Tower on December 12th and 13th from 9am to 4pm for local children in need. Spread some holiday cheer this season by providing gifts for children that are less fortunate in our community.

Merchants on Historic Main Street will have extended evening hours on Fridays and Saturdays in December, with most businesses staying open until 8pm.
